How Your Wedding at The Beverley Barn Flows Seamlessly
One of the questions couples ask us most often when they come for a tour at the The Beverley Barn is:
“What does the day actually look like?”
Well, it’s completely normal to feel unsure. Weddings are full of moving parts and it can be hard to know what happens when, how the order works and how everything flows from ceremony to dancing.
One of the things we pride ourselves on at The Beverley Barn Wedding & Events is making sure the day feels relaxed and seamless for our couples.
So here’s a little glimpse into how your wedding day could unfold here at the barn…For the purpose of this example, we’re imagining a bride and groom wedding, but the structure works beautifully for any couple.
The Groom Arrives
We usually recommend that the groom arrives around an hour and a half before the ceremony start time.
This gives plenty of time to settle in, enjoy a drink at the bar and is also a good opportunity for the groom to:
• Check the ceremony space and table settings
• Let the coordination team know if any guests can no longer attend
• Run through the timeline of the day with us
We’ll also make sure everyone in the groom’s party has their buttonholes pinned and is ready for the ceremony.
Once everything is in place, the groom can relax, enjoy a drink and begin welcoming guests as they arrive.
Guests Begin to Arrive
We recommend inviting guests to arrive around one hour before the ceremony. For example, if your ceremony is at 1pm, guest arrival would be 12 noon. This allows guests to arrive comfortably without rushing, have a pre-ceremony drink and enjoy the atmosphere before the ceremony begins.
It also gives guests the chance to:
• Greet the groom
• place cards or gifts on the welcome table
• Take in the surroundings of the barn and gardens and pop to the loo before the ceremony begins
The atmosphere at this stage is always lovely. Guests begin to mingle, relax and soak up the excitement of the day.
Preparing for the Ceremony
Around 30 minutes before the ceremony, our coordination team will begin gently guiding guests towards the ceremony area. At The Beverley Barn, ceremonies can take place indoors or outdoors, depending on the weather and your preference. One of the things couples appreciate most is that we can make the final decision just two hours before the ceremony, giving you the best chance of having the ceremony you’ve dreamed of.
Once guests are seated, we ensure the bride arrives discreetly. We keep her in the car or transport until the guests are seated so that guests don’t see her before she walks down the aisle.
Registrar Meetings
Before the ceremony begins, both partners will meet with the registrars. The groom’s meeting usually takes place in one of our cosy snugs and lasts around 10–15 minutes. Afterwards, the groom walks to the ceremony area with the best man and waits at the front of the aisle. Meanwhile the registrars meet with the bride in the Cart Shed, again for a short meeting to confirm details. Once that meeting is finished, it’s often a lovely moment for the bride to have a quick sip of fizz or take a breath before the ceremony begins.
The Ceremony Begins
Just before the ceremony starts, the mother of the bride may walk down the aisle, either alone or accompanied by a groomsman. Once all guests are seated, the registrars will make a short announcement asking guests to turn off their phones and reminding them that a professional photographer is there to capture the day.
Then the music begins.
Our coordination team starts the aisle music and the bride makes her entrance.
It’s always one of the most special moments of the day.
Confetti and Celebrations
After the ceremony, the couple exit together as newlyweds. This is the perfect moment for a confetti shot, which always creates beautiful photographs and a wonderful atmosphere. From there, guests are invited to enjoy the drinks reception.
Drinks Reception
During the drinks reception guests can relax, chat and celebrate with the couple.
We always recommend including:
• Background music or entertainment
• Drinks
• Canapés
Some couples also love adding fun touches such as:
• A crisp wall
• His and hers sweet bags
• Lawn games or crazy golf
While guests are enjoying drinks, this is a great opportunity for the photographer to take the couple for some relaxed portraits around the grounds. These don’t need to take long but the scenery around The Beverley Barn provides some beautiful backdrops.
A drinks reception usually lasts around 60 to 90 minutes.
Speeches and Wedding Breakfast
Once the drinks reception finishes, our team will invite guests into the main barn for the next part of the celebration.
This is where:
• Speeches
• The wedding breakfast
• Evening celebrations all take place.
Many couples choose to have speeches before the meal, especially if canapés have been served during the drinks reception. Once speeches are complete, food can be served immediately so guests remain comfortable and relaxed.
Afternoon Relaxation
After the meal is finished, guests often enjoy heading outside again. This is a lovely time for:
• Additional photographs
• Lawn games
• Entertainment
• A bouquet throw
It allows everyone to stretch their legs and enjoy the surroundings before the evening celebrations begin.
Evening Guests Arrive
As evening guests begin to arrive, we recommend allowing them time to settle in. A cocktail hour at the bar works beautifully, giving guests time to grab a drink, sign the guest book and chat before the evening entertainment begins.
Cake Cutting and First Dance
Once everyone is gathered and relaxed, we bring guests together for the cake cutting. After the cake is cut, it’s the perfect moment to move straight into the first dance while everyone’s attention is focused on the couple.
From that moment on, the dance floor opens and the evening celebrations begin.
Evening Food and Dancing
Evening food can be served anytime between 7pm and 9pm, depending on your schedule. Later in the evening, our coordination team will cut the wedding cake and serve it to guests. Music continues until 11:30pm, with the venue closing at midnight.
A Day Designed to Flow Effortlessly
Every wedding at The Beverley Barn is unique, but the goal is always the same. We want the day to feel natural, relaxed and beautifully organised so that couples can focus on what really matters. Celebrating with the people they love.
